Do we need an aggregator?

Does our community need an aggregation service (i.e., a "blog river" or "feed of feeds")?

For example, the code4lib community uses software called Planet to aggregate content from its members' blogs, which can then be consumed in various ways.

Thoughts?

That's a good idea Tom, care to set one up? Another tool to do such things is http://www.rssmixer.com/

Alun Salt wrote off-blog with several helpful suggestions, including: tumblr.com (maximum 5 feeds in), wp-o-matic (a WordPress plugin), technorati favorites and Yahoo Pipes.

I've talked to Sean Gillies, who is willing to help me set up an aggregator, and we're going to try implementing it with Sam Ruby's Venus branch of Planet. We'll start with blogs from AWBG members (and other stuff we like) that aren't explicitly marked "do not aggregate" or "all rights reserved". Stay tuned ...
